The House of New Beginnings Inc. was founded in 1988.

The road hasn't been easy for Pastor Otis & Sister Loretta Smith. They have gone through some turbulent, plain old rough times trying to keep this ministry alive. But God has blessed them, kept them,  and led them. Their committment & dedication has allowed them to be used by God to help others.

 

Pastor Otis & Loretta Smith have been married for 48 years and they are the founding partners of the House of New Beginnings.  For over 28 years they have been involved in the  "Effective Ministry" , of transforming lives and communities through faith, prayer and instruction in the Word of God.

 

Before coming into a relationship with Jesus Christ as his personal Lord & Savior, Otis Smith spent 10 years in jail/prison. His problems were brought about through his abuse of alcohol and drugs.  While in prison, Otis was dramatically transformed. Since his release in 1974, Otis has committed his life to bringing the Good News of the Gospel and deliverance in the power of God to inmates throughout Virginia. 

 

Now, 42 years later,this ministry has taken on a number of different forms as God has used him and his wife, Loretta, to touch the lives of hurting men / women, and their familiies.  In addition to an active and extensive teaching ministry in the prisons, Pastor Otis and Sister Loretta operate the Philemon Home ,and are still building on  The Timothy House for men as they are released from prison. These programs provide support and encouragement resulting in thousands of men, who have grown spiritually under their mentorship / guidance , have successfully reintegrated back into  society as the Christian men that God predestined them to be before the foundation of the world.
